Before the object
The first record of Tenet is this drawing. The shape of a leaf holds the shape of St. George Island, with water surrounding both. The word means “it holds,” and the title carries one extra turn: tenet is a palindrome.
The finished artwork will replace the sketch as the primary image when the piece is complete. The sketch will remain here as part of the record of how the work came into being.
